Let me know if you get the 1000v working. I have tested it, and it keeps reverting my networking back to a standard vSwitch that it creates labeled “M-switch”.

The MDS switches don’t perform the monitoring, the computer that is running Fabric Manager will communicate with UCS. However, in order to use the latest version of Fabric Manager your MDS and UCS devices will have to be running a supported firmware version. What version of firmware are you running on the UCS system?

Interesting, can you tell me if the 9140 and 9124 are can be used to monitor/communicate with a UCS system running Fabric Manager and Device Manager 3.3.x?
